The killing took place in Stamford around 9:45 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 116 Woodside Green apartment 3A.
Responding officers located the boyfriend, identified as Anthony Vines, age 40, of Stamford outside of the apartment building, said Stamford Assistant Police Chief Rich Conklin.
"There was no resistance from Vines or attempt being made to flee from the area," said Lt. Tom Scanlon, of the Stamford Police.
Officers and EMS entered the apartment and 36-year-old Stephanie Giurand was located in the bedroom. She was pronounced dead by EMS as a result of a single gunshot wound to the head, Conklin said.
Major Crime investigators and crime scene officers responded and processed the scene. Numerous items were seized from the residence including a knife and a firearm, police said.
An Assistant State’s Attorney responded to the scene and is assisting in the furtherance of the investigation.
Vines is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm, Scanlon said.
He was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm. Heis being held on a $500,000 bond.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
